Right, so this one is for anyone who has ever wished a bit too hard for someone to notice them. Bear works in a music shop, buys a toy he shouldn't have, and wishes his friend Nikki would fall for him. She does. Then she doesn't stop.

It is the kind of horror that creeps in sideways rather than jumping out at you, the fear of watching someone you thought you knew turn into someone you don't recognise at all, and of realising you asked for it. There is a nastiness to that particular flavour of dread that I find far more unsettling than a masked man with a knife.

This is one for a night when you want to feel a bit uneasy rather than properly terrified, ideally with the lights on and someone else in the flat, just in case you start reconsidering any wishes of your own.

It matters because obsession dressed up as devotion is one of horror's oldest tricks, and this one plays it with a nice, twisted little bow on top.
