This one keeps you in a single house and lets the unease build room by room rather than jumping out at you. Tony Basgallop created it, with M. Night Shyamalan on as showrunner, which tells you roughly the kind of patience it asks for: nothing is rushed, and very little is explained straight away.
It's the sort of horror that works on you sideways. You're watching people go about ordinary domestic things, and the wrongness creeps in around the edges until you're not sure what you actually saw. No jump scares to brace for, just a steadily tightening feeling that something in the house isn't quite right.
Good for a night when you want to be unsettled rather than shaken, ideally with the lights left on and nobody wandering off to answer the door. Watch it in order, in one sitting if you can manage it, because the dread has a habit of following you round the flat afterwards.
