Swamp Thing

Abby Arcane goes back to the town she grew up in to look into a strange illness spreading through the swamp, and what she finds out there is not what anyone warned her about. There's a creature in the water that used to be a person, and the line between the two never quite settles for the rest of the run.

This is body horror with roots, literally. It's less about jump scares and more about the slow, damp dread of something growing where it shouldn't, and the people around the swamp who'd rather it stayed buried. There's a proper sense of small-town rot to it too, secrets that have had years to fester.

Good one for a single soggy evening, since there's only one season to get through and it doesn't waste any of it. If you like your horror a bit gothic and a bit sad underneath the slime, this earns its place.

It only got the one season, which feels like a shame once you're in it, but what's there is committed to its own strange mood right to the end.
