A crew follows a star map found among relics from across our own history, hoping it points to the people who made us. What they find instead is not an answer so much as a warning.
This isn't a film that jumps out at you from behind a door. The fear here is slower and colder, the kind that comes from realising you might not want the truth you went looking for. There's body horror too, the sort that makes you cross your arms and not quite trust your own stomach.
Watch it on a night when you want something that unsettles rather than startles, ideally with the lights low and nobody talking over the quiet bits, because the quiet bits are doing most of the work.
This sits within the Alien series, though you don't need the rest of it to feel the dread building here. If you like your science fiction laced with old, uneasy questions about where we came from, this one earns its place on the shelf.
