Nancy Drew is exactly what it says on the tin, and then something else besides. She's the detective generations grew up with, given a new case and a CW gloss, except this time the strange things she keeps running into don't have tidy explanations. It's mystery first, with the supernatural allowed to properly interfere rather than sit in the background looking moody.

Four seasons of it, which is a decent stretch to let a ghost story breathe. This isn't the kind of horror that makes you sleep with the light on. It's slower and more stubborn than that, the sort where something won't leave a case alone until it's been dealt with, and the puzzle and the haunting end up tangled together whether Nancy likes it or not.

Good company for a night when you want to half solve a mystery yourself while something unexplained hums along underneath it. Not one for full lights off, but keep a cushion handy all the same.
