Hemlock Grove
A horror series based on Brian McGreevy’s novel, with werewolves, thriller tension and science fiction in the mix.
Hemlock Grove is based on Brian McGreevy’s novel of the same name. Werewolves are part of its horror, with thriller and science fiction elements alongside them. That gives me a sense of the sort of evening to set aside, without giving away anything the story would rather reveal for itself.
What it does not tell me is how frightening any particular scene gets, or whether the horror is graphic. I would not promise anyone a gentle watch on the strength of a genre label. If that distinction matters to you, check a detailed content guide first. My coffee can handle uncertainty; I know not everyone wants it from their television.
This is one for a dark evening when you want a series to give your attention to, especially if a werewolf story with a thriller edge sounds like your sort of thing. It began as a book, too, so readers who enjoy comparing page and screen have a companion to seek out. I would leave the plot to introduce itself. People talking through the frightening bits can find another sofa.
